The Problem: The Academy had a need to design branding, program collateral, and a vehicle wrap for a new mobile arts program titled “Academy in Motion”. This program was an outreach program designed to take the arts to our community and to places that the arts might have otherwise been inaccessible. Stocked with art supplies and skilled art professionals, this bus and program was both an extension of the Academy and its mission.
The Solution/Design: When working through both the branding and the vehicle wrap, I sought to keep the logo playful, quirky, and bright. I wanted the logo to function as something that made the program pretty immediately understandable, which is why I chose to include the bus in the logo. I also sourced the the color palette from both secondary and primary colors in our brand palette, so that it felt like an extension of our original brand.
For the bus wrap, I was limited by a relatively small budget. Within that limitation, I wanted to ensure that the bus’s intent was undeniable, so I illustrated large, bright art supplies on both sides of the bus, and included the illusion of “dripping paint” on the front of the bus to match the the “splatter paint” that was used in the secondary logo.
